Hello. My name is Sarah Walls and I am one of the 3rd grade teachers at Brookhaven Elementary School. This is my 19th year of teaching, and my 13th year teaching at Brookhaven. I have taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade during this time at Brookhaven.

I grew up in the PYLUSD, going to: Rose Drive, Golden, Tuffree, and El Dorado. I received both my B.A. in Elementary Education and my Teaching Credential from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I then received my M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in technology from Concordia University in Irvine. I taught 4th grade for two years in the Magnolia School District in Anaheim, then moved to a private school in Stanton where I taught 5th, 7th, and 8th grade before coming to Brookhaven.

At Brookhaven I run the Peer Assistance Leadership (PAL) program. Our program was awarded one of the top PAL programs in Orange County in 2024. Teaching is not just my career, it is my passion!

My Educational Philosophy

As a teacher, I am dedicated to creating a positive learning environment where all students are encouraged to be successful and given the support they need to become lifelong learners.  I believe it is my responsibility to make content accessible to all types of learners and provide opportunities for children to apply their knowledge to real world situations. I am committed to preparing students to become successful in this dynamic, technology-driven world. As a teacher, I inspire thoughts, challenge ideas, advocate for my students, and lead by example at all times.

“The essence of education is not to stuff you with facts but to help you discover your uniqueness, to teach you how to develop it, and then show you how to give it away.”
–Leo Buscaglia
